Le Cordon Bleu - hospitality training

Le Cordon Bleu are the world's leading provider of hospitality training. They run an extraordinary scholarship scheme aimed at people with limited means who wouldn't normally have the chance to study their most prestigious course, Le Grand DiplĂ´me, in London. The prize is worth over £30k and comes with accommodation in central London and the chance to study with a leading chef.

They aren't looking for people with previous experience, just people with a passion for cooking or the hospitality industry. It's open to 17-20 year olds so they are targeting schools and colleges.

APPRENTICESHIPS & ACCOUNTING WORK PLACEMENTS

APPRENTICESHIPS & ACCOUNTING WORK PLACEMENTS ALONG WITH COMPUTERISED ACCOUNTS- SAGE 50 TRAINING FOR STUDENTS

We have opportunities for work placement available that your students may be interested in. At this time we are aware that many sixth form students are looking to secure work placements for the summer and we would like to offer them an opportunity to train with us.   St Mary's Accounting Services is a lively forward thinking firm of Chartered Certified Accountants in South East London, and we were a finalist at the National Council for Work Experience Awards in March 2012.

We are providing a SAGE LINE 50 COMPUTERISED ACCOUNTS TRAINING & ACCOUNTING WORK PLACEMENT in August 2012, that is geared to equip students with the necessary practical skills to complement their educational courses, assist with their UCAS points and enhance their employment skills.

We ran a similar program last summer, in which 16 sixth form students from three different schools attended the training and work experience session with our firm which gave them vital practical experience in using Sage 50 accounts software, and accounting duties in the real world. Enclosed is a feedback form which details the comments provided by the students and the common comments provided by their professional mentors within our organisation.

The programme will provide them with the following benefits and more:
•   Certification on completion of course & references attainable
•   Gain hands on experience & employment skills
•   A supportive framework that will help with any questions
•   Guidance on how to break into the job market and into the Accounting field
•   Trained by Chartered Certified Accountants, with experience in the working field

This programme is a tailored package which includes 2 days training in the computerised accounting software at a discounted rate of £150, and 2 weeks work placement for FREE.
The students will also have an opportunity to be put forward onto an Accounting or Business Admin..Apprenticeship programme. Apprenticeship programmes are an excellent way of gaining qualifications and workplace experience, where the apprentice will earn as they learn as well as gain practical skills from the workplace.

Should you have any questions, or would like to express your interest, please do not hesitate to contact Sarah Naughten at traininq@stmarysaccounting.com  or on 02072529331.

BBC documentary

Educated and out of work? Up for hire?

The BBC is looking for young talented people between the ages of 18-24 who are desperate to find work. The producers have approached Prospects to see if we can help find participants to be filmed in July and August, for a documentary.

Producer Miles Carter said, “I really think this project will be great, not only to create awareness for young people but also for employers. We are looking for people who are talented, educated and out of work.”
Participants will benefit from intensive training and a chance to undertake real work experience, with the possibility of a job at the end. The documentary will then be shown to an invited audience to introduce a live debate, and representatives from Prospects will be asked to attend. The programme will be supported by a dedicated website where we can post information.
The producers are looking for young people from all parts of the country with many different experiences and backgrounds, who can answer yes to these questions.

• Are you a school leaver or graduate, unemployed for over a year?

• Would you like 40 years of career experience in four weeks, and the chance of a real job at the end of it?

Miles adds, “This exciting new series aims to give individuals with potential a genuine opportunity to find the right employer and start a new career”.

If you know a young person aged 18 - 24 who meets the criteria and might like to take part,
please contact Love Productions on 020 7067 4837 or email: miles@loveproductions.co.uk

American Soccer Scholarships

If you are aware of 6th form students (male and female) who may be interested in applying for a soccer scholarship beginning August/September 2011 please have them/parents/guardians complete the online contact form at www.afssports.com as soon as possible.

  • Students should be very smart, serious about their education and play soccer at a high standard.

  • Students must be able to provide Video footage (highlights) of them playing competitive game(s) and as we are coming to the end of most soccer seasons here in the U.K. it would be wise for those who don’t have footage to take it now as this is the only way U.S. Coaches will be able to view the students skills as a soccer player.

  • The male soccer team coaches are looking for: 5 goalkeepers, 2 strikers, 1 left fullback, 1 Centre back and a number midfield players.

  • The female soccer team coaches are seeking 1 goalkeeper and players for various positions.

  • Parents/Guardians should be aware that for those who are offered a soccer scholarship it would be very unlikely to cover all costs and they should be prepared to contribute something towards their child’s education.
