6th Form Centre Make-Over

Looking for a small group of students who would be interested in sprucing up the 6th form centre a bit to give it a sense of personality and care. The students will have to be prepared to get together at least once a fortnight after school to discuss how to spend the money I have gained from the PTA

Please contact Cassie Hyland in the Art dept if you are interested

Message from the exams office

  • There are still many students who have not paid for their re-sit’s for January. These need to be paid as soon as possible. If there is a problem, please speak to either myself or Jackie in the exams office.
  • The missing Edexcel certificates have now been delivered so any students who are waiting for these again need to see us. I also have more certificates from Bexleyheath and Erith.

The Snake Pit

Would  you like to take part in the RAVENSBOURNE WINTER PROJECT - THE SNAKE PIT?

This is for Year 12 students interested in the following areas - Art & Design, Product Design, Fashion, Graphics, Broadcasting, Music & Sound Production.

The Snake Pit will take place over 2 days - the 13th & 14th December and will look great on UCAS applications.  If you  would like to take part please complete the attached application form and return it to Lucy Slater l.slater@rave.ac.uk by 23rd November at the latest.

Are you brave enough to enter the Snake Pit and face the Business Cobras?

The challenge - Working in small focus groups you will be asked to create and promote a fantastic new product/service that can be sold to tourists visiting London during the festive season.  This could be anything from a printed shopping bag, a stocking filler 'gadget', an app for phones showcasing the best places for festive shopping etc.  The choice is yours.....

The only criteria is that it MUST promote both London and the Winter Festive Season.

But the challenge doesn't end there.  Once you decide on what you want to sell then you have to produce the costings, market research and develop the pitch that will convince the Cobras that your idea/product is the best.

Many enter the Snake Pit, but only one group will win....will it be you?

Tuan and Hung do us proud!

On Tuesday 11th October, Tuan and Hung Lai accompanied by two teachers in the Maths faculty from Welling School, attended an awards ceremony at the UBS Headquarters in Moorgate, Central London. They had been nominated for an outstanding achievement and excellence award following their successful first year of A-Levels in Maths and the Sciences. They were recognised for not only being the first students within Welling to sit a Further Maths qualification alongside the standard Maths a-level but for achieving the top possible grade within both subjects. They are both predicted A* grades at A2.

During the awards ceremony they were spoken to by Dermot Shortt, global head of UBS Delta, who offered some excellent advice on how to get into the investment banking sector. They were then led through a networking session by Lyle Andrews, Head of Graduate recruitment for the firm, before finally being given the opportunity to immediately practice some of their newly learnt networking skills in a reception at the end of the evening with other prize winners and employees from UBS.

Hung and Tuan have completed their UCAS applications  and hope to read Mathematics at Cambridge University or another top achieving university.
